18% Grey

The 18% gray value comes from the print world. On printed material, it's claimed that the half way point between black and white reflects 18% of the light. So a neutral gray (not whitish or blackish) is 18% gray.

If a scene differs considerably from a statistically average scene, a wide-angle averaging reflected-light measurement may not indicate the correct exposure. To simulate an average scene, a substitute measurement sometimes is made of a neutral test card, or gray card.

The combination of exposure increase and the card orientation gives recommended exposures that are reasonably close to those given by an incident-light meter with a hemispherical receptor when metering with an off-axis light source.

The instructions a neutral test card recommend that the indicated exposure be increased by ½ step for a frontlighted scene in sunlight. The instructions also recommend that the test card be held vertically and faced in a direction midway between the Sun and the camera

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portal:Photography

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bokeh
I seriously didn't take much photos. The time in a&w was very very short. some people ate into our timeslot and we had exactly 90 mins from in to out.

Well i think everyone kinda enjoyed themselves with Naomi enjoying the most as usual. Of course Jamie had fun seeing all the people and had some food

Jamie's 4th Month 'Hang Biscuits'

Just around 4th month, we remembered there is this "ritual" where one would hang biscuits around the baby's neck to "collect" their saliva. This is to make sure that they will not be so slobberish in the future.

Also it is also said that the more the baby salivates, the more the mother loses her hair.

Instead of biscuits, we used the modern version, which are Cheezels, it's much easier to string them together

2008 - Songkran Holiday

These are a huge selection of photos from our 1 week holiday for Songkran. All the photos are chronological. :)
Being braver this time, we drove from Bangkok to Phuket instead of flying. It's supposed to be a 10 hour drive, so we broke it into 2 days as not to stress Naomi out by sitting in the car so long :P

BKK - Phuket was done, via one night in Chumphon. We stopped at a hotel by the beach. Obviously we went swimming in the sea with naomi :) As you can see in the photos below. Hotel stay was cool, but mosquito was an issue. Heat was also a major issue with our room's airconditioning in the fritz.

We arrived in Phuket on Naomi's actual birthday. Pickup the grandparents from the airport and went for dinner. The day ended with Naomi celebrating her Birthday AGAIN, but this time with a tiny cupcake :)

Songkran in the hotel was pretty fun with water fights and the usual :) Our whole holiday was basically sleep, eat, swim, eat, swim, eat, sleep for the whole week.

One the w...

We had a short trip to Singapore for some course Emily had to attend. Me and Naomi tagged along, so we can bring her to the great Singapore Zoo.

Had some chance to take some nice portraits of the animals there. I really wished for a longer lens to get some nicer portraits of the tigers. but all in all, it was a decent trip and Naomi enjoyed it.

New 7 Wonders

Is anyone else out there who is extremely doubtful about this hoopla about the new 7 wonders. To me this looks more like a busines of making money from tons of people than anything else.

Selling pins/tee-shirts/tickets/concerts/votes/broadcasting rights etc. Where does all this money goes(millions or even billions)? Into the pockets of more rich dudes. The only thing is ever mentioned is that half goes into some fund for restoration. There is no mention at all of how does the "half" come from.

The wierd thing is, so many people is buying into this marketting engine. Am i the only one who is looking at this another way?

For a proper "wonder" list, check out the UNESCO's world heritage list. http://whc.unesco.org/en/list

Malaysia

Gunung Mulu National Park (2000)
Kinabalu Park (2000)

Thailand

Historic City of Ayutthaya (1991)
Historic Town of Sukhothai and Associated Historic Towns (1991)
Thungyai-Huai Kha Khaeng Wildlife Sanctuaries (1991)
Ban Chiang Archaeological Site (199...
